The Vineyard Trail (long route)

This is the longer extended version of route 3, with a total length of 12km (6 hours). It is rated as a difficult route, suitable for hikers in excellent physical shape. The first section follows a forest road that ascends the northern slope of the Troullinos ravine, 2.2km long. This area used to be covered entirely with orchards that once belonged to the old settlement of Troullinos, but today all that remains are some almond trees, a few fruit trees and the ruins of old buildings. The second section is the most interesting, but also the most tiring – a 900 m section that ascends amongst dense pine forest towards the Anelikos saddle. When you reach the saddle, follow the section of the trail that proceeds to your right (north), which will take you along the forest road in Asprohomata (meaning white soil). From here you will come across many restored vineyards and enjoy excellent views, especially from the peak of Pyrgos, as well as beautiful forest landscapes.
